Eyelash Extensions Consent Form
Why Consent Is Important With Eyelash Extensions
Eyelash extensions are a fantastic way to add thickness, length, and volume to your natural lashes. They also look amazing almost indefinitely – assuming you take good care of them! Unfortunately, keeping up with an aesthetic like this requires a lot of upkeep and maintenance. Because of this, many people ask whether it’s necessary to get consent before getting eyelash extensions. After all, you can’t exactly see the individual inside the room who’s going to be so closely involved with your eyelids for multiple weeks at a time!
Consent And Why It’s So Important
Consent is essential when it comes to eyelash extensions. Eyelash extensions are applied using a semi-permanent adhesive (most often cyanoacrylate or monomeric formaldehyde). This glue is applied to your natural lashes and to the false eyelashes, and it will form a permanent bond. This means that if you ever want to take off your eyelash extensions, you’ll need to have them removed by a professional. This is where getting consent is essential. If a technician is applying lashes without your permission, they’re likely using a very strong adhesive that will cause irritation, swelling, and/or bruising. This can lead to a very uncomfortable and potentially damaging experience. Additionally, if someone is applying lash extensions to you without your consent, it may be tough to get them off in a way that doesn’t damage your natural lashes.
How To Get Consent When Getting Eyelash Extensions
It’s important to remember that consent can be revoked at any time. So, if you’re getting eyelash extensions, make sure that you’re getting them with consent. You don’t want to be in the middle of having eyelash extensions put on and then be told that they’re permanent! When bringing up the topic of eyelash extensions, start by asking your technician if they use a semi-permanent adhesive when applying lashes. If they do, ensure they’re willing to use a low-sticking adhesive for you. If you’re really concerned about sticking, ask for their name and contact information so that you can call them personally later and ensure that they’re using the low-sticking adhesive for you. You should consider finding a new technician if they don’t use low-sticking glue.

Talk About Aftercare And Maintenance
Eyelash extensions are a very delicate procedure, and you’ll need to take very good care of them if you want them to last for a long time. Make sure that you’re following a strict aftercare routine, including using a gentle cleanser, not touching your lashes, and keeping your eyes clean and hydrated. You should also avoid getting your eyelash extensions wet, including during an eyelash tint (if you’re getting lash extensions done along with an eyelash tint, make sure they use a different application on your lower lashes). If you want to keep your lashes long and beautiful, you’ll need to keep up with maintenance. Ensure you’re following your technician’s instructions when it comes to aftercare.
Make Sure The Technician Is Licensed & Certified
Eyelash extensions are a cosmetic procedure, which means that the FDA does not regulate them. This means that anyone can set up a shop and start applying for eyelash extensions. You should make sure that the technician is licensed and certified, though, to ensure that their skills are up to par. You can look for certification organizations such as the International Lash and Brow Society (ILBS), the International Academy of Beauty and Cosmetology (IABC), or the National Cosmetology Association (NCA). If the technician doesn’t have any certifications, finding another salon may be a good idea.
